So you’ve just moved into a new apartment or maybe you have been living in your home for a while now, here’s an awesome and easy trick to give those walls an updated yet classic feel in a snap!
A little history about mouldings,” Moulding (also spelled molding in the United States though usually not within the industry), is a strip of material with various profiles used to cover transitions between surfaces or for decoration. It is traditionally made from solid milled wood or plaster but may be of plastic or reformed wood. In classical architecture and sculpture, the molding is often carved in marble or other stones.” WikipediaA “plain” moulding has right-angled upper and lower edges. A “sprung” moulding has upper and lower edges that bevel towards its rear, allowing mounting between two non-parallel planes (such as a wall and a ceiling), with an open space behind. Wikipedia
To get started with this DIY, you’ll need three things, moulding, command strips, and a ladder (depending on where you are placing your mouldings).
Lay out your moldings on the floor or use a photoshop app on your computer or phone and get the design you want before you start placing them on the walls.
Once the pattern is done, apply a generous amount of command strips to make sure the moulding stays on the wall. press and you are done!
The great thing about using command strips is that they are completely removable and will not damage walls if you are renting or aren’t sure you’d want this design long term!
