Coming in at 7’6” and 200 pounds, is a… DOG?

In the world of teacup chihuahuas, some dogs are literal giants in comparison.   Although large dog may not be suitable for city living, theses giants among canines can bring joy and happiness to your home like no other; although, they do need quite a bit of space!

Many large breeds are breed for their training and guarding capabilities. These qualities can make them great family pets to ward of home invasions and protect personal property. But don’t let their size fool you! These gentle giants can sometimes think they’re lap dogs. Many large breeds are even recommended for homes that have young children or homes of multiple children.

One family’s canine member measures in at 7 feet two inches when standing on its hind legs and weighs in at 200 pounds. This particular pet is a member of the Great Dane breed of dogs. Although it is not unheard of for a Great Dane to reach over the weight of 200 pounds, the average weight is between 120 to 200 pounds maximum.

An ancient breed on this list is the Irish wolfhound. Used for things such as protection, hunting, and as war hounds, this breed as roots in Ireland dating back to 7000 B.C. Don’t be scared with them having wolf in their name though, these gentle giants are far removed from their wolf cousins.
