Whether it’s days off from school spring break or summer, it never fails that our children can become bored being at the house. A quick trip to the dollar store or using items you already have in your home is the ideal cure for their common boredom.
The YouTube channel The Melea Show has created an awesome video giving you a step-by-step walkthrough of several easy to do activities to help your children get over their summertime blues.
With the revamping of some of our favorite science-fiction films, battle toys such as lightsabers are in an all-time demand. However, although some of our younger children may yearn for these toys, they’re not exactly age-appropriate. An alternative to this is using your everyday pool noodle. By cutting the pool noodle in half and using Black as well as metallic tape you can create a lightsaber that is appropriate for all ages.
And what about interactive art? Sidewalk chalk is a popular art medium for children and adults alike. Put a new spin on this classic pastime by creating fizzing sidewalk paint.
- All you will need for this activity is baking soda, cornstarch, food coloring, vinegar and a little bit of water.
- Mix the baking soda and cornstarch together and add the water until you get a paint-like consistency.
- Separate out your paint base in different containers and add your food coloring.
- After creating your works of art on the pavement, spray with a little bit of vinegar and watch your art come to life.
