We’ve all heard it? But do you know the history of the viral kids song “Baby Shark”?

It seems the song Baby Shark has hit the world by storm. Everyone knows the song, even those who do not have children. Social media, personal blogs, even Primetime TV shows are joining in on the viral fun!

The Late Late Show with James Corden had this to say about their episode featuring the popular song “Let’s face it: Baby Shark is an undeniable force. James invites his guests, Sophie Turner, playing the role of Mommy Shark, and Josh Groban, taking on the role of Daddy Shark, for the definitive performance of this global phenomenon.”

But the song is actually not new! Would you have guessed that it is over 100 years old? In the1900’s, baby shark was a song sang to preschool children! Wikipedia The song became popular among American boy scouts and girl scouts troops when sitting around the campfire in the 1980’s to the 1990’s.

Between the 1980’s and 2014, there were numerous versions of the song released. In 2015, the Korean startup media group “SmartStudy”  in collaboration with PinkFong, release the version most of us have heard. As of September 2018, the song has been seen over 130 MILLION times on youtube. Wikipedia
